Question 1 of 9 11%

How much crypto do you expect to store?

The amount does not decide everything, but larger balances make isolation and recovery planning more important.

This quiz runs entirely in your browser. No data is sent to any server. We never ask for private keys, wallet addresses, or any financial information.

Hardware or Software?

A hardware wallet keeps transaction signing on a separate device. That can reduce key exposure on an infected phone or computer, but it does not stop you from approving a harmful address or losing the recovery backup. Compare the current options in our hardware wallet guide.

A software wallet is more convenient for payments and dApps because it runs on your everyday device. The trade-off is greater exposure to phishing, malicious extensions, device compromise, and rushed approvals. Our wallet comparison covers both categories.

Plan for the Failure You Can Actually Face

Phishing and harmful approvals: a secure device cannot make a bad transaction safe. Read every address, network, amount, and permission before approving.

Loss or theft: decide how you would restore access before funding the wallet. Device locks help, but the recovery method remains critical.

Backup exposure: never enter a recovery phrase into a website or send it to support. Keep it offline and separate from the wallet device.

Network mistakes: USDT exists on multiple networks. Confirm that the sending and receiving wallet use the same network before transferring.

Beginner Setup Checklist

  • 1. Download the app from the provider’s verified site or buy hardware from an official source.
  • 2. Write down the recovery instructions during setup; never photograph or cloud-sync a seed phrase.
  • 3. Check the asset and network, then compare the first and last characters of the address.
  • 4. Send a small test transaction before moving a meaningful balance.
  • 5. Practice explaining how recovery works without exposing the actual backup.
  • 6. Keep daily-use funds separate from long-term savings when the amounts justify it.
