Electrum does not list an official iOS app. Because fake wallet listings exist, do not use a store search result as proof that an app is genuine; begin at the official website and follow its link.
Lightning, multisig, and advanced wallet types
Electrum includes Lightning functionality, but Lightning introduces channel, liquidity, and backup considerations beyond a normal on-chain wallet. Fees and stuck transactions
Electrum is free to download, but sending an on-chain Bitcoin transaction requires a miner fee. That fee is based mainly on transaction size and current network demand, not the amount of bitcoin being sent. A transaction spending many small inputs can therefore cost more than a simple transaction moving a larger amount from one input.
Electrum uses dynamic fee estimates and lets the sender adjust the fee before signing. A low fee can save money when the network is quiet, but it can also leave the transaction unconfirmed for longer. Electrum's official FAQ says on-chain transactions are replaceable by default except Lightning channel open and close transactions. RBF and CPFP are useful recovery tools, not substitutes for checking the fee before broadcasting. If the wallet type uses the optional TrustedCoin two-factor service, review that service's separate fee terms during setup as well.
Security and recovery
Electrum is open-source and has a long public development history. Its source can be inspected, and official release binaries are published with signatures. Those facts improve transparency, but they do not protect a standard software wallet from a compromised computer. Private keys can remain under your control and still be exposed if malware can inspect the wallet file, memory, password entry, or copied addresses.
Seed phrase, password, and wallet recovery
A standard Electrum wallet generates a seed used to derive its private keys. The wallet password encrypts local wallet data; it is not a replacement for the seed. If the password is forgotten, a standard wallet can be restored from the seed and given a new password. If both the seed and usable wallet access are lost, neither Electrum nor anyone else can recreate the keys.
Electrum uses a versioned seed system, so do not assume every other wallet will interpret an Electrum seed in the same way. Restore it through the correct Electrum workflow unless you have verified another wallet's compatibility. Also note that a wallet created from imported private keys or addresses may not have a seed at all. Such wallets need a separate backup plan. Public servers and privacy
Electrum servers do not receive the wallet's private keys. Confirmed transactions are checked with SPV, which reduces how much the client must trust a server about blockchain history. The privacy model is less strong: Electrum's main server receives subscriptions related to the wallet's addresses and can reasonably associate them, while connected servers can see the client's IP address unless traffic uses a proxy or Tor.
The main server can also omit relevant transactions from the history it reports and is trusted for unconfirmed transaction information. Electrum reduces some of this risk by connecting to multiple servers and checking headers, but that is not the same as validating everything with your own Bitcoin full node. Privacy-conscious users can connect to their own Electrum server, though this adds setup and maintenance work.
Hardware wallets, watch-only wallets, and multisig
Electrum can act as the interface for compatible hardware wallets while the device handles signing. This reduces the chance that desktop malware can extract a spend key, but the user must still verify the receiving address, amount, and fee on the hardware device. A watch-only wallet contains addresses or public keys but cannot spend.
